Copper wiring contributes to higher transmission speeds and faster AD (analogue to digital) conversion. Fast sensor readout enables 10-bit 4:2:2 4K recording up to 60p. The sensor also provides improved color reproducibility, low-noise performance, 15+stop dynamic range and increased AF speed.
BIONZ XR image processor up to 8x processing speed
The BIONZ XR engine, also used in the Sony Alpha 1 and Alpha 7S III models, provides up to an 8x increase in processing speed. The engine concentrates real-time processing of AF, image recognition and image quality adjustment to minimize processing latency for greatly increased processing power.
4K 60p recording and 4:2:2 10-bit recording
Full pixel readout without binning allows 4K 60p recording in Super 35 mode providing high-resolution smooth footage that can be edited to 2x and 2.5x slow-motion when rendered to 30p or 24p in post-production, and 4K 24p or 30p full pixel readout without binning in full-frame with 7K oversampling.
Beautiful color expression, with S-Cinetone
The Alpha 7 IV supports S-Cinetone, based on expertise gained through development of the VENICE CineAlta professional cinema camera line. It delivers natural mid-tones for healthy-looking skin color, plus soft colors and gorgeous highlights.
Real-time Eye-AF for humans, animals, and birds
The high speed of the latest image BIONZ XR processing engine provides a significant boost to Real-time Eye AF performance, even when the subject is looking up, down, or sideways. It is also possible to use Touch Tracking to initiate Real-time Tracking of any subject in the frame.
Fast Hybrid AF with improved speed and tracking
759 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points with a wide coverage of roughly 94% of the image area for both stills and movie. This vast collection of data is analyzed in real time by the latest powerful BIONX XR processing engine to achieve the AF system's impressive results.

Not really a video person, but it’s a great camera. I’ll have it a long time.Been using Sony forever and it’s better than most. Auto focus is amazing. Actually all of the auto settings are fantastic.I’m not a professional. But I find beauty in a lot of life. And don’t like to pay to have someone shoot things for me.

1.5 crop is the dealbreaker for me. Yes you want the a7siii to sell well also, but to purposely give the almost perfectly balanced a7iv a terrible downgrade is just borderline greedy. The jello effect and extra megapixels is enough to differentiate it from the a7siii, but to give it a 1.5 crop on 4k60p is a doucebag thing to do, especially when me and a few others are interested in ONLY recording in that setting. Now I have to wait for a7v to release to upgrade my a7c, lol oh have mercy.

I’m new to photography so take this with the grain of salt if you’re an avid photographer but I love this camera. My brother bought a Sony Alpha 7 III and I thought it was super cool what he could do with it. This led me to purchasing the Alpha 7IV. An expensive camera but it has a lot of capability especially with state of the art auto focus. Definitely a pro for someone learning to to shoot manual.

No complaints. It has every setting you could think of. Endless features and great zoom lens. I’ve compared to canon and Nikon. Song is number one for me in photography and recently even filming. I’m impressed. This is the quality picture you’d hope for in photos and even quick commercials.

I was so excited to get the new Sony A74 after switching from a Canon, only to be extremely disappointed with the quality right out of the box. First and foremost, this thing DOES OVERHEAT! JUST BY VIEWING THE MENU! Within 10 mins actually, IT'S WINTER HERE. MY ROOM IS AN ICE BOX. I DON'T KNOW WHAT SOME YOUTUBER'S ARE SMOKING, BUT THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! Anyway, I fixed that issue, by going to set up/power setting option/autopower off temp/High. Now at least it wouldn't turn off just by viewing the menu...Pictures looked fine but when I switched to 4K manual video recording I was getting really odd banding with different colors. Seems like a sensor issue, or maybe SD card but I doubt the latter. Please take a look on my pictures. I've literally invested thousands of dollars, switched lenses.. Only to get this turd of a camera. Planning to return it very soon. Not sure if I'll ever trust another Sony product again.
